New Coaches for 2011-12
Head Coach –Christian Atkinson
Christian graduated in 2006 from Centennial as a 4 year Letterman in swimming
and one year in gymnastics. While he was a swimmer at Centennial, Christian was part of three state championship relays between 2003-2006, and as a sophomore won the 200 IM at the championships in 2004. Christian was also a part of the 2006 CHS State Championship team.
Christian recently graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education. He is currently a Paraprofessional in Special Education at Centennial High School. Christian has been coaching summer league swimming for 7 years, and is coach of the Mayfair-St. Clair Marlins summer league swim team, leading them to and undefeated season and first place in their division in 2010. He has also coached the Johns Creek State team for the past two years. Christian is also a Varsity Football coach and will be assisting baseball in the Spring at CHS.
Assistant Coach –Jamie Saffer
Jamie graduated from Centennial High School in 2006, earning a swimming scholarship to the University of Tennessee. Jamie swam for the Vols from 2006-2010, and was a four-time NCAA Division 1 All American. She has the fastest time in the 100 breast stroke ever swam at a dual meet in NCAA history. She also has two Tennessee school records and was named National, SEC, and Lady Vol swimmer of the week, the second swimmer after Olympian and team mate Christine Magnuson to get all three accolades in one week. Jamie won SEC's in the 100 breast stroke in 2009, breaking a ten year old record. After she graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2010, Jamie lived in Europe for seven months and worked as an Au Pair in Italy, Portugal, and Switzerland. Jamie now swims for fun, assistant coaches for Centennial, works at Verde, and watches kids after school.
